The spam instances reported all came to XXXX@nytud.hu XXXX@Cranfield.ac.uk XXXX@goldmark.org The same spam also came to two other addresses of members of my household, which I won't report here. After a while I started calling UUNet's toll free abuse hotline. The first time round, I gave them a ticket number that was related to an nytud.hu instance. After that, I no longer received the quixotik spam to the nytud.hu address. About a week later, I called UUNet and discussed Quixotik refering to a ticket number from one of the Cranfield address bits of spam. Then I stopped getting Quixotik spam to that Cranfield address. This has now happened a third time with the goldmark address. The spam is still coming to the two addresses that were never reported. So you can believe one of three things 1. I am a liar, OR 2. This is just one of those remarkably incredible coincidences, OR 3. UUNet is assisting Quixotik in list washing. Now if you accept (3), this also shows that there is a relationship between Quixotik/UUNet and the actual spammer. (Recall that the spam comes from many sources, but always advertises sites hosted by Quixotik.) This is because reports to UUNet that I am a persistant complainer and reporter of spam has had an effect on the people sending the spam. Until now, I was (naively) willing to consider UUNet merely inept.
